Following on from yesterday's 'wood' theme, I thought I'd show you a few more.
This is a tiny door tucked away in the village of Gorbio. Note the weathered lintel peeking out from the stone. The door is probably the entrance to a
cave or maybe the place where once the family pig was kept.
Beautiful scene behind this little building. You have picked out the weathered wood amidst stone all around.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike, Jilly. I am continuing with a wood series for a few days as well.
une petite porte mystérieuse, qui nous donne envie de l'ouvrir...
ReplyDeleteThis door reminds me of human skin without moisturiser in the harsh Australian sun!
ReplyDeleteI know you didn't post this for me as a birthday photo, but you might as well have! This reminds me SO MUCH of the countryside around Corconne (Gard) which I loved/love so much....if you ever get over that way.....
ReplyDeleteGreat photo.
Sure looks like it might be wet in the rain.
ReplyDeleteLovely, picturesque scene. I'm always amazed at how vegetation can struggle and concur the environment to find a way to survive in the harshest environment. The plants peeking out between the stones lighten my spirit.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me wonder what or who used that tiny door.
ReplyDeleteThe composition of this image couldn't be improved, Jilly. In the midst of stone and mountain our eye is drawn to that weathered yellow door.
ReplyDeleteI find these old villages tucked away in craggy mountains just amazing! Look at that stonework (and the wooden door)! What a job it must have been to get the right-sized rocks to where you want them and them cement them in place!
ReplyDeleteDid every family have a family pig?
We both have "ochre" on our minds today! :) And of course I just scrolled down to say "Bonjour Monsieur" to Henri!! :)

These rugged hill towns say a lot about human ingenuity, creativity and persistence. You can't help but wonder what's behind the yellow door. Loved meeting Henri yesterday. The perfect embodiment of the hill town spirit.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by my blog yesterday and leaving a comment.
What might this yellow door and lock be hiding all these years? What wonderful buildings you have to 'enjoy' with the camera.
ReplyDeleteThe eye is drawn to the view beyond the door - Oh I remember that view so vividly! I'd never tire of that scene.
ReplyDeleteYou aroused my curiousity, Jilly. Do you get some pliers ?
