  1. I want to take the first flight to Nice and the bus to Menton to see the light and shadows...

  7. You and I have posted a photo of both light and shadow today; fun, isn't it to see the play of light on buildings? I also love seeing laundry on lines, something that is almost a remnant of the past in our country altho I regularly hang out clothes in the spring, summer, and fall. The only domestic chore I enjoy!!

  8. Perfectly paired photo and Edward Hopper! I saw a little Edward Hopper exhibit at the Des Moines Art Center just last week...funny coincidence.

  10. I love this! I can picture a family carefully timing their laundry so they can catch those brief moments of daily sunlight.

  12. Oh of course I love the sunlight and shadows but I do so love the iron grill over the window. I found one in Paris with geraniums on the sill. Sigh! :)

  15. I love how the shadows lead you up to the laundry.

  16. My guess is that the people who live in this house know what time to do the wash so that the clothes are out to dry when the sun hits the building.

  17. Such good composition. Talk about leading the eye! Happily, that shaft of brilliant sunlight shoots right through the wet laundry. Drying your clothes in the open air violates the rules in some American housing developments. They think it's low class. Fools.

  18. Terrific, the crop and the entire photo both. What a perfect quotation, too. You've done it again, Jilly.

You know I could have taken that photo :-)

  21. Nice! Just enough sun to dry the clothes.
Today I also posted hanging laundry. It does have its charms, n'est pas?
