There was a small market taking place in the main square of Apricale. I noticed the man on the left earlier - he was in charge of one of the stalls (see last photo) - and then later, there he was chatting to a friend as they leaned against the ancient walls of the village.
une belle rencontre, deux amis qui discutent entre eux, cela fait de belles photos
ReplyDeleteI like his jewelry!
ReplyDeleteTwo friends? I would have said father and son, don't you think?
ReplyDeleteJilly having been with you on that day in Apricale makes me admire your talent even more. I hadn't spotted this man on the market square and while I noticed him seated with his friend/son later on, I just couldn't haven taken that portrait, I would have been too shy to blatantly point my camera at him. You did - reasonably discretely - and it worked! Bravo!
Nathalie, I never thought of them as being father and son. Well of course you could well be right. Thanks for kind words, but I'm not always that blatant! I think down here everyone is so used to tourists that I pretend I'm one and just about get away with it!
ReplyDeleteThree charming shots, but the center one delights me the most. At first I thought the younger man had caught sight of you but he's not looking into the camera; both he and the older man are looking slightly to one side of you. I just love that shot.
ReplyDeleteThis makes me wonder how many generations before these two have sat in the same spot and caught up on the day's events.
ReplyDeleteLike Sharon, I thought the photo of the two men sitting by the old stone wall looked timeless, except for the baseball cap.
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine Nathalie shying away from a good shot! Jilly you could probably help me get the remainder of my 100 French Strangers in no time flat.
ReplyDeleteI love this portrait of these two. Their faces so interesting and you're right, the wall adds.

Yes, you've captured these friends deep in thought.
