Clean-up time on the beaches. The digger is scooping sand back from the sea and replacing it on the beach.
Compare the last photo to that of yesterday. You don't really expect to see a digger as you look through a restaurant to the sea.
The damage to Menton was minimal though even tho the papers said otherwise. Nice and Cannes suffered far more. One Menton restaurateur I spoke to said he'd lost 30 beach chairs and had a few more damaged. Many restaurants were already open, others will open today. Life is almost back to normal on the Sablettes. Click
HERE to see how high the waves were Nice!
assez impressionnant pour faire des pâtés de sables ou des châteaux ;o) très belle dernière photo
ReplyDeleteThey're right on the ball, very organized. May your beaches soon return to their original beauty.
ReplyDeleteWell, Menton had it lucky!
ReplyDeleteGood news! Thanks Jilly for taking the time to go down to the beach and check out the situation for yourself. Newspaper make their honey of big stories and tend to exaggerate sometimes.
I love the contrast between the two shots through the doorway!
ReplyDeleteI agree that you do not expect to go to a beachfront restaurant and see and hear construction equipment.
ReplyDeleteThe link to the photos of the storm was amazing. THank you.
Here, we pump the sand in from way off-shore.
ReplyDeleteNow that looks like a fun job every boy dreams about.
ReplyDeleteHA! Leave it to you Jilly to find a hunky worker to make us smile!

There seem to be more and more of these freak events happening in the last few years. Signs of the time, or did we maybe damage some fragile balance???
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic toy to play with the sand. What children wouldn't like to try ? :-)
ReplyDeletePleased to read that all is back to normal.....
WOW! Have "the experts" decided WHY the waves happened? The link to the photos are amazing as well. VERY happy to hear that you're safe and DRY!
ReplyDeleteI like the photo where the construction worker is framed by the building - very similar to another photo of a person framed by and arch! :-)
STAY SAFE!
