Mademoiselle Barbie and Monsieur Richard
Rejected Barbie dolls at the Brocante in Menton last Sunday. Perhaps I should have bought them for Richard who has a fun blog 'Barbie of the Day.' Dressed by Richard who is a real Fashionista, witty words by Richard (often reflecting the politics of the day), his Barbie lives in Villefranche-sur-Mer, which is just along the coast from Menton and believe me Richard's Barbie lives the high life of the French Riviera and Monte Carlo. Do click on the link to take a look.
very interesting!
ReplyDeleteWhat stories they could tell, especially 'Where are our clothes?" :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a hoot, Jilly! My parents never bought me a Barbie doll; I got Barbie's best friend Midge for Christmas one year. Can't wait to check out Barbie of the Day on the French Riviera :-).

Ah, Barbie, I knew her well. I remember saving every penny I could find to buy her latest outfit.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jilly for the link to Barbie of the Day, I remember you mentioning it to me - I'm just back to a visit there, what a delight!
ReplyDeleteI remember having a great time dressing Barbie up as a child. In those days (the sixties) you only bought ONE barbie doll and then bought the outfits separately. When my kids were little, things had changed: you bought a new barbie for each outfit. Who said consumerism?
OH Jilly, that blog is a hoot! Thanks for the link. I"m sure Richard will appreciate this photo and want to buy them all and of course get them dressed.

OK, Jilly. I will never again question whether to try a link that you suggest. You introduced us to the sand art by the woman in the Ukraine, which is amazing. Yesterday's link to the storm photos was astounding.
ReplyDeleteBut today, I read your link to the Barbie of the Day and I thought "There cannot be a subject that would interest me less."
But hey, Jilly recommended it, so I thought I wuld check it out anyway. The next thing I did, was carry my laptop over to Julie and say "You got to take a look at this."

ReplyDeleteCool!
ReplyDeleteI love Barbies and still have few of them from my childhood. Recently in Iran, the government tries to make barbies forbidden for kids! That's odd! they says Iranian child just should play with Persian traditional dolls. They also have designed some Iranian dolls called DARA & SARA. Dara is a boy and Sara is a girl. Both of them are cute but I do not agree with banning Barbies!
Thanks for the link to BOTD. Very cheering to see them.
ReplyDeleteNever did quite understand the Barbie phenomenon. She is such a fiddly thing to dress and refuses to cooperate!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shout out Jilly. These poor girls look like they desperately need a BOTD makeover. xxx
ReplyDeletethe Barbie site was a kick
ReplyDeleteA Barbie symposium ! And when a Barbie meets another Barbie, what do you think they talk about ? Barbies's stories, I guess.
ReplyDeleteNathalie reminds me my youth....She's true, it was a very precious doll (I haven't got a real Barbie in fact, just a copy), and now they're just sold for nothing.....
Loved the link . . . thanks for sharing such a fantastic diversion.
