Quite a few streets in the Old Town were dangerous to walk on. Roads dug up - perhaps to install drainage - wobbly planks of wood cover the work. This sign says something like 'Access denied. Specialized workers only.' Some people don't speak Italian or understand No Entry signs!
Is it possible she lives down there and is simply trying to get to her front door?
ReplyDeleteI had the same thought as Brattcat. There must be an exception for "local traffic only."
ReplyDeleteYes, except the person in the photo is my Australian friend - not a local! Mind you I followed her down so I can't read either!
ReplyDeleteAnother thing... once you turn 60+ all bets are off. People just look, roll their eyes and mutter! One of the wonderful perks of old age kickin' in. hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI'm LOL at Birdman. All bets are off pour moi aussi! :)
ReplyDeleteHope you both arrived safely.

In Italy, do as Italians....
ReplyDeleteHere, rules are made to be transgressed, mind you :-)
This could NOT be a woman who lives there; Italians do NOT wear back packs, this is obviously a tourist!
ReplyDeleteI always say that signs like these are much more of a guideline rather than an actual rule. I would have gone down too!
ReplyDeleteMind you, I have had the occasional experience where I had to talk myself out of a ticket for exploring where I should not have been (according to the signs). But, I got some interesting pics and views.
