Doesn't she have a beautiful face and serene expression.
At the Fête Patronale de Saint Barthélémy this nun was waiting to walk, with the crowd, into the old village and up to the church.
'Smiling always with a never fading serenity of countenance, and flourishing in an immortal youth.' ~ Isaac Barrow
I agree with you and Sharon... :)
ReplyDeleteJilly you've done it again ! There's something about this portrait that takes it way up there. It is so moving...
ReplyDeleteOne day you'll bring together all the great portraits you've done and you'll be amazed by the beauty and grace that blesses them. Such talent can only exist because of a real care and interest in people. You are wonderful.
And dear Jilly, thanks for being there on the important day of my blog's third anniversary. We both know what blogging has done for us. You are one of the very dearest friends I made through blogging and the best thing is, I know that even if I gave up blogging the friendship would still be there.
ReplyDeleteI hope to visit you sometime this fall, hopefully before the sea is too cold. I've never had a swim in Menton and wouldn't mind trying that!
Nathalie, I so agree - our friendship is there - set in stone - blogging or no blogging. How lucky for us.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant, you'll be down in the fall. Well your room is ready for you!
Jilly, I think this is the newest iMac and am not sure but think the picture on my blog is of the larger 27 inch model. Mine is the next smaller model.
ReplyDeleteAnd, Yipee! It comes today before 3:00 PM so I will have the whole weekend to get it up and doing my thing and retiring the PCs. Patty is already on the other iMac that is about 2 years old, but not quite. She found the change to it harder than just switching to another PC. But she likes it already and has it pretty well set to her liking.
I really like this portrait for the fine details.
She sure does....beautiful portrait. She resembles Mother Theresa.
ReplyDeleteShe sure looks at peace with herself.
ReplyDeleteIts speaks volumes... her expression. She's like so pretty in every meaning of the word, and you have captured her angelic inner peace.
ReplyDeleteShe is beautiful. This came through the laptop at exactly the right moment. I'll leave it at that but will be by later on the weekend. So lovely, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteHi Jilly. You work wonderful miracles in your photos. This photo is only the most recent example. I appreciate very much your talent and that you share your photos with us. THANK YOU!
ReplyDeleteKen B.
Nathalie has summed this up when she says this portrait is 'way up there' Your portraits are always inspiring but this one is special, you have captured a feeling of worldly knowledge but yet an inner peace. I love it
ReplyDeleteA serene expression well captured.
ReplyDeleteJilly, visiting your blog is like taking a trip in person. I adore doing so and thank you for every corner that I get to turn with you.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the kind comments on this photograph and on this wonderful lady. This was the first shot I took - very quickly - then I realised I had time to re-frame it and took another. But it wasn't nearly as good. The light wasn't right, the expression was just fractionally different. It's so often in the 'moment' isn't it and I was lucky with this one. Thanks everyone for enjoying it with me.
ReplyDeleteThere are times when I would love to curl up inside her heart.
ReplyDeleteThis wonderful photo makes me feel sorry for women who screw up their faces with surgery and botox. They will never know what natural beauty they may have attained just by smiling.
ReplyDeleteOne of your many fine portraits, Jilly. This one is really tops.
