one of the most beautiful towns on the French Riviera

Bar du Cap
Place du Cap at 8 p.m. The nights are getting shorter. At the Bar du Cap you can have a drink before dinner or stay for the evening and eat - they serve simple good food - and very cheap.
Looks relaxing, after high season. When I finally make it to Menton, which I hope is sooner rather than later, I'll definitely be visiting this place. Simple, good, and cheap food is always a draw.
Jilly, When we lived on the Rue Longue this was our tabac. We stopped every evening on our way home with our bags of fresh vegetables for dinner. We sipped pastis and enjoyed the view over the beach and old harbor toward Italy. The patron would come out and shake my husband's hand. The waiters called us "Deux Ricards" because that is what we ordered every night (and perhaps because we mispronounced "deux" to sound more like "Dieu"). And on those rare rainy days in Menton, I played Rapido all afternoon. They did not have Rapido last time I was there, but they still have Ricard! Thank you so much for evoking fond memories everyday.
Jilly, You know I love this so much. I'm wondering if you tried it in BW? Perhaps you did and preferred this. Of course you are the artist and we love what you choose. V
Thanks everyone for the comments. It's always so fascinating to read how you feel about a photo and what it might mean to you. And Virginia, I did try it in B and W and for some odd reason the figures looked more blurry so I didn't use it. I did try again just now and thought it looked OK. I posted late at night and should have perhaps re-thought it in the morning! Good thinking.
belle photo et belle ambiance de fin de soirée
ReplyDeleteIf ever I get to Menton I will have to visit this restaurant because I am from the "Cap" of Africa.
ReplyDeleteYour photos always bring me in to the location. I can just feel the ambiance of this outdoor café.
ReplyDeleteNice lighting, Jilly.

Jilly, this looks and sounds like my kind of place. Great photo. About the nights, ours in Portland are getting longer and longer.

ReplyDeleteSimple, good, food...and French food. Couldn't want more. Sorry I've been absent; a bit under the weather.
