This rather strange sculpture is to be found in the gardens of the Palais Carnoles in Menton.
It's called 'Question d'Arome' (Question of Aroma) and was created by the sculptor,
Sacha Sosno in 1996. Click on the link to read about this well known local artist.
You do have a nose for the unusual, Jilly. It would be hard to stick your nose up at this one.
ReplyDeleteI love this sculpture; it's both interesting and funny. I have a real appreciation for sculptors who work with marble. It's so incredibly gorgeous, but also so difficult to work with. And also not the most portable of mediums! It seems like almost a sort of calling because such hard physical labor is involved.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing us the detail work as well as the entire sculpture in its setting. I'll certainly be looking at more of Sosno's work.
I know so many people with the same head's shape!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to his site - love his work! Always enjoy your posts - I check every day.
ReplyDeleteI am betting he got this far and died.
ReplyDeleteExcellent!
ReplyDeleteHow funny! I love this isolated nose!
ReplyDeleteYour close-up is just what was needed to spark interest. What an amazing work of art...
