I posted railway station too. So sad to see that homeless person.
ReplyDeleteOutstanding entry ! Much respect upon pointing out. Have to admit, that I took nearly a similar picture not too far into the past, as the city provides way too many such sights.
ReplyDeleteA safe road ahead for you and a good start into the new month and week as well.

Interesting post.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad but so true in many cities. Nice capture.
ReplyDeleteI had a sleeping homeless man yesterday. Maybe they noticed yet thought he would want them not to fuss.
ReplyDeleteExcellent image and post for the theme, Jilly. Well done!
ReplyDeleteSome photos are soooooo STRONG, and these two are not easy to forget! The contrasts of life can be huge, also where you are. Thanks for sharing .
ReplyDeleteGreetings from G and S in Stavanger.
Best of luck at the big photo event, Jilly!
A painfully powerful image, particularly those vulnerable feet.
ReplyDeleteA wonderful choice with strong social commentary.
ReplyDeleteGreat Theme Day post--I agree with B SQUARED's comment 100%. Mine is up at Portland Oregon Daily Photo; it’s a photo that I took on the MAX Light Rail last Saturday.
ReplyDeleteA very striking photo for a problem that few of us know how to deal with. Great photo and commentary for today's theme Jilly ;-)
ReplyDeleteI agree with nathalie, this is one of those problems we don't know what to do with. Touching photo!
ReplyDeleteHi Jilly--good to hear from you, but the question is 'where have I been'?
ReplyDeleteA touching image. I helped a 15yr old homeless lad the other day. I gave him busfare money and a ride to the station. And listened to him---I hope I helped. MB
Too cold and snowy for most homeless people to live in our city!
ReplyDeleteVery appropriate theme day post. Besides that I like it a lot because of the contrast between the "haves" and the "have nots."
ReplyDeleteA very poignant photograph Jilly.

Great interpretation
ReplyDeletetoujours des photos dures a voir ;(
ReplyDeleteSo sad there are so many homeless people! Excellent photo, Jilly!
ReplyDeleteI've been doing some reading on psychological interpretations we make, and the homeless don't make out too well with the majority of citizens. Wish we could dignify their existence and eradicate homelessness. Sigh!
ReplyDeleteSad but I guess we get used to it because there are so many. And I have this feeling it isn't going to get any better. :-(
ReplyDeleteWow! What a great way to participate in this month's theme and make a statement. It's amazing how often we walk around, over, or away from "the least of these your brethren". Thank you for this, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteExcellent post for today, Jilly. The contrast between the well-dressed young women and the man lying there, ignored by them, is heartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteAnd in the close-up, "Ce sac est ...durable..." reinforces the idea that he will need that sack for a long time.
what happens to the homeless during the winter in Menton, Jilly? Do they have shelters in which they can sleep?
ReplyDeleteJilly
ReplyDeleteA chilling photograph,, becoming FAR to common around the world.

A perfect post, Jilly. Somehow I had let myself think that the problem of homelessness did not touch Menton.
ReplyDeleteVery sad but what a powerful entry on the theme! Well done, Jilly!
