The Art School - Creativity
'Painting and sculpture are very archaic forms. It's the only thing left in our industrial society where an individual alone can make something with not just his own hands, but brains, imagination, heart maybe' ~ Philip Guston-----

"Le Genou de Claire"---that's what this photo makes me think of!
ReplyDeleteI like Bibi's comment! :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking of "la belle noiseuse", an other movie speaking of art..Creation, such a mysterious thing...
How frustrating that your top photo doesn't show us this gentleman's work. We are left to concentrate on his face, which is fun too. And I love Bibi's reference to "le genou de Claire"!
ReplyDeleteThe bottom photo is wonderful too and I loved yesterday's. Your idea not to show us (much of) the model but the students' work is excellent.
ReplyDeleteMy sister goes to nude drawing class every week. I attended once and was amazed to see that while the male model was no Apollo at all, several of the students had actually changed his features to make him more handsome than he was - no beer belly but a flat stomach, longer limbs etc. Nice and flattering but certainly not true to life :-)))
Nathalie, I've changed the photo! The student is a bit blurry but I see it tells a better story. Thanks my friend. xxx
ReplyDeleteHow nice to have your back tickled.
ReplyDeleteEssayer d'égaler la finesse de la peau au toucher de ses goigts.
ReplyDeleteJilly,
ReplyDeleteI love the composition of the top one. Excellent. Although I agree with Nathalie that I'd like to see more of his work, your POV is so very interesting.

I think the top photo is terrific. Intense concentration on the artist's face, and just a hint of the model.
ReplyDeleteI think the top photo is perfect!!! He IS the creator...in this compostion, that truly is the focus. I love the model's arm and leg in the foreground...absolutely wonderful photo Jilly!!! I also like the bottom photo, but in all honesty, the top one is much more unique!
ReplyDeleteGuston should know, but then his heart is in his shoe. Very nice detail here, where a little stands for a lot.
