Cemetery of the Old Chateau:
'Shadow is a colour as light is, but less brilliant; light and shadow are only the relation of two tones.' ~ Paul Cezanne ~~~~~
Cimetière du Vieux Château:
'L'ombre est une couleur comme la lumière, mais elle est moins brillante; lumière et ombre ne sont qu' un rapport de deux tons.' ~ Paul Cézanne
In the shadow, rust is disappearing, and the chain seems to be as young as at the beginning..
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lovely place Jilly, hope to see more. Quietly rusting away there... Is there still an old chateau nearby ?
ReplyDeleteOwen, no there isn't an old chateau nearby - not anymore. This is in the cemetery which is called the Cemetery of the Old Chateau because there used, once, forever ago, to be a chateau there. This cemetery is above the old town. The dead always look down on the living in France, don't they? Thanks for the visit.
ReplyDeleteA lovely way of thinking about it,Malyss.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots. Fantastic composition.
ReplyDeleteDarryl and Ruth : )
Beautiful comments and beautiful stories to accompany this beautiful post.
ReplyDeleteCezanne's quotation fits the photo perfectly - he was a master of light and shadow of course.
ReplyDeleteI love the close up, so much to enjoy but I always like the smaller shot that gives us a sense of the whole picture.
