The Mayor et Moi...
The Riviera Times is an English language newspaper in the south of France. It's currently running a monthly series called 'My Village' in which local Brits are interviewed about their lives and the village they've chosen to live in. I was asked if I'd be interviewed on Gorbio and said, 'Of course, I adore this village as everyone knows.'
And so that's why you are seeing a photo of me with the Mayor of Gorbio, noted artist, Michel Isnard - as of course the Mayor of each village is interviewed as well. (This was taken in early February, hence the boots and warm clothes)
And so along came a very nice journalist, Carolyn Reynier, who took this photo outside the Beausejour, my favourite restaurant - not just in Gorbio but in the whole area including Menton. It's a great place to eat! Click on the link to read Carolyn's article.

You match very well together!:)I love the idea to see why you (= english people) love our part of France!
ReplyDeleteGreat portrait. I also was drawn to your cool boots.
ReplyDeletec'est une initiative tres sympathique
ReplyDeleteLovely to see you, Jilly. Lovely to see you with that handsome Mayor. And wonderful to read the quotes in the article. It is so true. This adventure of documenting our towns, one photo a day, does help us to fall in love all over again with our "homes".
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Great article and photo, Jilly.
ReplyDeleteWhat fun to see you and the mayor and to read about you in the article!
ReplyDeleteGood for you!
P.S. Maybe the author can correct your blog's name so it will be an easy to follow link.
What a great photo! I love it!
ReplyDeleteHe doesn’t do you justice Jilly!
ReplyDeleteAnd anyway…his scarf is too short.
And…he could have tried tucking his shirt in his pants.
And…And…His shoes don’t go with that jacket.
And…And…And…he’s wearing cheap aftershave!!
And…where the hell is ‘Gorbio’ anyway?
Better Google off then…

Salut Jilly! Fun to see you and the mayor!
ReplyDeleteIt is a lovely photo of both of you and a very nice article.
ReplyDeleteFor once it's not of photo BY you, but a photo OF you! Nice!! (I don't mean that I don't like the photos BY you... this was complicated.) :-)
ReplyDeleteGood to see you and to read about you. The story was quite sympathetic, I thought.
ReplyDeleteNice photo and nice article, now we know a little bit more about you!
ReplyDeleteQu'est-ce une image fun! Jilly, vous ressemblez à un adolescent! Gorbio est certainement d'accord avec vous.
ReplyDeleteBravo, Jilly! You represented your village well. The photo is very nice, but not as good as your photos. The article was very interesting too. I visit St. Agnes but have never been to Gorbio. Maybe next time.
ReplyDeleteJilly, what a delight!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly deserved the attention, what a lovely photo! I am pleased to see that you are becoming a local celebrity : press pass, media coverage, mingling with the dignitaries... I hope you'll remember your old friends still ;-)
Jilly, oh how wonderful to see the beauty behind the camera! This is a wonderful article and photo. I agree with Bergson that it is time for you to write a book about Gorbio.
ReplyDeleteBon weekend, mon amie!
