PhotoMenton - Hidden Nudes
There was some beautiful nude photography at the exhibition but during the weekdays when the school children visited, these were covered by giant posters. As you see, it didn't stop some of the older students and a visiting adult couple finding them!
Here you find the work of Philippe Battesti (left) and Hervé Gourdel (below).

they've turned those beautiful images into a sort of peep show.
ReplyDeleteI've actually been wondering about nudes - whether there were any in the exhibition or not. You've answered the question beautifully :)
ReplyDeleteI followed the links to both photographers' websites but neither shows their nude photos. I suppose it would be complicated, for obvious reasons. I therefore had to rely on what little we can see on your photos. Both photographers appear very talented. I was impressed by what I saw. Thanks for this post!
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of reactions to the exhibition Jilly.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Brattcat! vey funny!
ReplyDeleteHa...can't believe they hid the nudes in France...Les Francais sont devenus pudiques?
ReplyDeleteI'm shocked quite frankly that the French would do this. A few years ago, Alice and Peter and friend Karen went with me to the Petit Palais for a wonderful photography exhibit. There were quite a few nudes and they were extremely LARGE prints, all hung amongst the artwork there. A class of kindergarteners sat in the middle of the floor sketching a piece of sculpture, quite at home amongst the 'ladies". I was very impressed. I agree with BC, covering the photographs reduced it to a peep show.
ReplyDeleteI found the blog post with the dear ones sketching!http://paristhroughmylens.blogspot.com/2008/12/12308.html
ReplyDeleteThese photos made me laugh. Because the "large posters" only told people that there was something VERY intriguing behind the poster(s). Then the best way to have children DO something is to tell them to NOT DO it! :-)
ReplyDeletePlease don't stop posting your photos!
