Méchoui - the Sheep Roast
We're going to a Méchoui! A sheep roast - a picnic - in the fields above Gorbio.
In the cuisine of Northern Africa, Méchoui is a whole sheep or a lamb spit roasted on a barbecue. The word comes from the Arabic word' šawa', which means "grilled, roasted". This dish is very popular in North Africa. And Gorbio!

Nous voilà à un Méchoui! Des moutons rôtis - un pique-nique - dans un grand champ au dessus de Gorbio.
Le méchoui est un mouton ou un agneau entier rôti à la broche, sur les braises d'un feu de bois. Le mot vient du verbe arabe 'šawa' qui signifie « griller, rôtir ». Ce festin est très répandu en Afrique du Nord. Et à Gorbio!
