Bussana Vecchia - Ancient Cobbles

Cobblestones like these make my heart sing.  These are real old cobblestones, laid in medieval times by artisans of the village of Bussana Vecchia. No concrete in those days.  Each stone has been placed in pefect juxtaposition with its neighbour by a man who knew what he was doing. And now, hundreds of years later a dog - and me - walk on those ancient stones.

A lady in Gorbio told me yesterday that years ago she visited Bussana Vecchia and there was a dromedary who lives near to the church. Probably walked on these very stones!

Des pavés comme ceux-là  font chanter mon coeur. Ce sont de véritables pavés anciens, façonnés à l'époque médiévale par les artisans du village de Bussana Vecchia. Pas de béton à l'époque. Chaque pierre a été placée en juxtaposition parfaite avec sa voisine par un homme qui savait ce qu'il faisait.  Et maintenant, des centaines d'années plus tard, un chien - et moi - marchons sur ces vieilles pierres. 

Hier, une dame de  Gorbio m'a raconté qu'il y a quelques années, elle avait visité Bussana Vecchia et qu'alors, un dromadaire vivait à côté de l'église. Il a probablement marché sur ces mêmes pierres!
