Fête Patronale de Saint -Barthélemy - Blessing of the Animals

The Fête Patronale de Saint -Barthélemy took place this last weekend - only a week after the flamenco festival. Yes, Gorbio is a wonderfully vibrant and active village with many cultural, religious and sporting events.

The Sunday started off with the annual Blessing of the Animals. This year Father Guglielmi did something I've not a priest do before. He asked each owner the name of their pet and then it received in own individual blessing. I loved that. There were lots of dogs, a cat, a duck and two chickens. No horses this year.

La Fête Patronale de Saint -Barthélemy a eu lieu ce week-end dernier - une semaine seulement après le festival de Flamenco. Oui, Gorbio est un village merveilleusement vivant et actif avec de nombreux événements culturels, religieux et sportifs.

Le dimanche a débuté avec la bénédiction annuelle des animaux. Cette année,  le Père Guglielmi a fait quelque chose que je n'avais  jamais vu faire par un prêtre avant. Il a demandé à chaque propriétaire le nom de son animal de compagnie  puis celui-ci a reçu dans sa propre bénédiction individuelle. J'ai adoré ça. Il y avait beaucoup de chiens, un chat, un canard et deux poulets. Aucun cheval cette année.
