Fête Patronale de la Saint-Barthélemy - the Dancing Girls
The weekend of the Fête Patronale de la Saint-Barthélemy has something for everyone in Gorbio. Following the chanted mass in the church and the ceremony of the Golden Apple, everyone walked up to the Camparan for the Mayor's speech and a light lunch with aperifs. In the evening, we were all back again enjoying Marie-France's delicious Soupe au Pistou under the stars and later a fabulous cabaret of gorgeous, scantily clad dancers called the 'Rêves de Stars.'
As I said, it all happens in Gorbio.

ReplyDeleteThey have enough frills and feathers to make up for the scantiness of the rest of the costume.
ReplyDeleteWow, after all the church-related celebration I wasn't expecting this!
ReplyDeleteYes it really is a mix of events within one day/evening!
ReplyDeleteQuite a contrast between the church and here, Jilly!
ReplyDeleteSomething for everyone? Yes. This part would get my attention.
ReplyDeleteOOh la la. Very colourful.
ReplyDeleteFête patronale ? The name used to imply a family-style fete in which everyone from child to elderly could participate. The nude girls don't fit my idea of a fête patronale at all
ReplyDelete...
but your photos are just super!
Nathalie, yes it is exactly that - this even though was in the evening after the sung mass, after the mayor's discours and lunch and after the soupe au pistou under the stars.
