Fête Patronale de Saint -Barthélemy - the Sword, the Crucifix and the Golden Apple

The first person to offer the golden apple is Laurent, the last is Fabrice who after he has kissed the crucifix lowers the sword. Laurent then removes the apple from the sword and places it on a golden plate.

Then, at the same time as the priest makes the sign of the cross,  Fabrice does the same with the sword. (see photo left) And then he throws the decorative garland to the right and the sword to the left where it is deftly caught by Laurent. It is all very dramatic and moving.

In the last photo, you see Laurent with the bare sword in his hand.

Laurent est la première personne à offrir la pomme d'or, Fabrice le dernier à le faire abaisse l'épée après avoir embrassé le crucifix.. Laurent enlève alors  la pomme de l'épée et la pose sur un plateau doré.

Puis  en même temps que le prêtre fait le signe de la croi, Fabrice fait  de même avec l'épée. (photo a gauche)  Ensuite, il jette d'abord la guirlande décorative vers la droite puis l'épée vers la gauche où Laurent la rattrape habilement. C'est à la fois très spectaculaire et très  émouvant.

Dans la dernière photo, on voit  Laurent avec l'épée nue à la main.
