La Fête de la Saint -Barthélemy - Blessing of the Animals

The Fete de la Saint Barthelemy in Gorbio starts with the Blessing of the Animals.  Here Pere Guglielmi is blessing one of the beautiful cats that live in the village. Look at the direct look the cat is giving him - I think he knows what is going on!

La Fête de la Saint -Barthélemy à Gorbio commence avec la bénédiction des animaux . Ici le Père Guglielmi bénit l'un des beaux chats qui vivent dans le village.  Remarquez  le regard direct que le chat lui adresse - je pense qu'il sait ce qui se passe!

Bordighera - a purr-fect life?

I love the way Italians put chairs outside their houses to sit and pass the time of day with their neighbours.  Add bougainvillea, sunshine and a ginger cat.  How perfect can life be?

J'aime l'habitude des Italiens de mettre des chaises à l'extérieur de leurs maisons pour se reposer et passer le temps avec leurs voisins. Ajouter des bougainvilliers, le soleil et un chat roux. Comment la vie peut-elle être parfaite ?

Lucky black cats?

If a black cat crossing your path means bad luck, do two mean good luck?!

This is the adorable cat belonging to a friend who lives in Gorbio village. He reminds me of the Cheshire Cat in Alice in Wonderland. He's called Igloo and of course he is a Persian cat.

I want a cat like him!

Voici l'adorable chat appartenant à un ami qui vivent dans le village de Gorbio . Il me rappelle le chat du Cheshire dans Alice au Pays des Merveilles. Il s'appelle Igloo et bien sûr c'est un chat persan.

A bench outside a house in Gorbio makes a welcome place to rest for these visitors. It was the orange tones - the wall, the door, the cat, the woman's hat - that caught my eye.

Un banc à l'extérieur d'une maison à Gorbio est un lieu d'accueil reposant  pour ces visiteurs. Ce sont les tons orange - le mur, la porte, le chat, le chapeau de la femme - qui ont attiré mon oeil.

This lovely cat, Youpi, is curled up in a beautiful pot in the sunshine outside his house in the medieval village of Gorbio.

Cats and Motorbikes

What is it about cats and motorbikes?  This cat, when he's not sleeping on the altar in Gorbio's church,  he's getting comfortable on someone's motorbike.

Qu'y a-t-il entre les chats et les motos ? Ce chat, s'il ne dort pas sur l'autel dans l'église de Gorbio, vient s'installer confortablement sur la moto de quelqu'un.

Fat Cat

 

We've met this lovely fat cat before. Opaque eyes so presumably he's blind but he gets around perfectly well in Gorbio village where everyone knows him.

Nous avons déjà rencontré ce  chat beau et gras . Ses yeux opaques font supposer qu'il est aveugle, mais il se déplace très bien dans le village de Gorbio où tout le monde le connait.

Sainte Agnès - the Lookout

Village cats are everywhere in Sainte Agnes, as in all the hill villages - no cars to run them over, for starters.  This lovely cat sits on the top step outside his front door and watches the world go by.

Les chats du village sont partout à Sainte Agnès,  comme dans tous les villages perchés - en premier lieu car il n'y a pas de voitures pour les écraser. Ce beau chat se trouve sur la plus haute marche devant sa porte et regarde les gens qui  passent.

The Cat who thinks it's a Horse

This cat is telling me he has every right to drink out of the horse trough in Gorbio village. Of course he does!

The Cat's Thoughts

An old galvanized bowl, outside the Restaurant Beausejour in Gorbio, once contained a mass of pansies. 'Pensee' also means a 'thought' in French.  So now it contains a cat ... and his thoughts.

Un vieux récipient en  galvanisé , à l'extérieur du restaurant Beauséjour à Gorbio , qui contenait auparavant une culture de pensées.  Et maintenant il contient un chat.... et ses pensées.

This cat enjoys the sunshine in a beautiful old cart in the main square of Gorbio village.

The Dog and the Cat

This man is often to be seen in the pedestrian street of Menton begging with his dog and his cat.

He seems to have a relationship with them and certainly the little Chihuahua and the cat play happily together.

I still wish people wouldn't try to attract money though by displaying animals in this way.

 On voit souvent cet homme, mendiant avec son chien et son chat, dans la rue piétonne à Menton.

Il semble avoir des liens avec eux et le petit chihuahua et le chat jouent certainement joyeusement ensemble.

Mais j'aimerais que les gens n'essayent pas de gagner de l'argent en exposant des animaux de cette façon.
