A Toy or a Real Dog?

Menton market:  maybe someone should buy the little girl a real dog...

The one on the right is a Keeshond. It's an old German breed, originally called a Wolfspitz.  The Keeshond was once a companion and watchdog on the barges and boats that traveled the canals and rivers of Holland in the 17th and 18th centuries and so it later became known as a Dutch Barge Dog or Keeshond.

Celui de droite est un Keeshond. C'est une vieille race allemande et à l'origine on l'appelait un Wolfspitz. Le Keeshond était autrefois un compagnon et chien de garde sur les barges et les bateaux qui naviguaient sur les canaux et les rivières de la Hollande aux 17e et 18e siècles et plus tard il a été   reconnu comme un Chien Péniche néerlandais ou Keeshond.

Walk in the Village

Two dear friends from Marseilles and their dog, Hector walk through Gorbio village.

Laurent and Chris are talented artists: Laurent a painter and Chris a photographer. Hector is the boss in this family of course!

Memories of a Princely Family

The entrance to this year's Monaco Dog Show is decorated with wonderful old photos of Monaco's Princely family.  In this photo, the little boy is Prince Rainier and behind him, his sister,  Princess Antoinette.  Later in life, she kept dozens of dogs and was the President of the Monaco's Society for the Protection of Animals.

L'entrée du Monaco Dog Show de cette année est décorée avec de vieilles photos magnifiques de la famille Princière de Monaco. Sur cette photo, le petit garçon est le Prince Rainier et derrière lui, sa sœur, la princesse Antoinette. Plus tard dans sa vie, celle-ci a gardé des dizaines de chiens et a été la Présidente de la Société Protectrice des Animaux de Monaco.

Street Walk

On the first Sunday of each month part of the Promenade du Soleil is closed to cars. Kids play, people ride bikes, skaters skate and pretty ladies walk their dogs.

 Le premier dimanche de chaque mois, la Promenade du Soleil est fermée aux voitures. Les enfants jouent, les gens font du vélo, les patineurs patinent et les jolies dames se promènent leurs chiens.

Dog on a table?

This Jack Russell looks as if he's standing on a table but in fact he is standing on a wall alongside this restaurant in Place du Cap, Menton.   Dogs are part of life in France and if you go to a restaurant, then of course, your dog can go too.  I approve!

Ce Jack Russell a l'air d'être debout sur une table mais en fait, il est debout sur un mur à côté de ce restaurant de la Place du Cap, Menton. Les chiens font partie de la vie en France et si vous allez dans un restaurant, évidemment votre chien peut aller aussi. J'approuve!

Fur!

Looks like there is a lot of fur walking around Menton this winter, and not just on the dog!
