Dolceacqua - Manpower
Dolceacqua - a medieval village across the border in Italy - and twinned with Gorbio. In the old days, donkeys were used to lug produce up into the village - nowadays it's man-power.

Dinner time in Italy
Dolceacqua in Italy - not far across the Italian border from Menton. As is often the case in Italy, the kids eat with their parents. I love that!

Dog Talk in Dolceacqua
I wonder how many people know their dogs have private conversations with strangers behind their back.
*****

Mama Mia
You just know this Italian Mama in Dolceacqua is going to be the most amazing cook, don't you? But then, aren't all Italian mothers great cooks!
*****

The Span Bridge in Dolceacqua
Recently I posted a photo of the beautiful span bridge in Dolceacqua. (on left) The water was absolutely still water giving a perfect reflection. But actually I prefer this - love a slight wobble in the reflected buildings...!
*****

Reflections on Dolceacqua
An American friend and I were having fun taking reflection photos recently in Dolceacqua. Suddenly, the wind dropped and the water magically became clear.
Dolceacqua is just over the Italian border in the valley of the Nervia. Here you see the beautiful medieval humpback stone bridge, famously painted by Claude Monet. Monet visited Dolceacqua, along with Renoir, in 1884. Monet described the bridge as 'a jewel of lightness.' (click link)

Claude Monet and the bridge at Dolceacqua
This is Dolceacqua's famous humpback stone medieval bridge and in the lower left hand corner Claude Monet's painting of it. Monet visited Dolceacqua, along with Renoir, in 1884. Monet described the bridge as 'a jewel of lightness.'

We've popped across the Italian border today. Note the reflection of the Italian flags in the River Nervia - at Dolceacqua.

A Sign in Dolceacqua
What's so incongruous about this sign is that it's at a window high up on the left-hand side of this
medieval square in Dolceacqua, just across the Italian border and a little way out of Ventimiglia. Somehow the style of the sign doesn't go with the ancient stones but hey, it gets noticed - so long as you look up.
