Danger!

It was a glorious day here yesterday and these two little Maltese terriers were having the best fun on the Promenade le Corbusier at Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. I nearly got run over!

Hier ici, c'était une journée magnifique et ces deux petits bichons maltais s'amusaient énormément sur la Promenade Le Corbusier à Roquebrune-Cap-Martin. J' ai presque failli me faire renverser!

Menton's Town Hall

Just a glimpse of Menton's Town Hall. It was built in 1861 for Baron Honoré Ardoïno who was a botanist and historian of Menton. After he died the building was used to stage the celebrated Folies-Bergèere and then in 1898 it finally became the town hall.

Juste un aperçu de l'Hôtel de ville de Menton. Il a été construit en 1861 pour le baron Honoré Ardoïno qui était un botaniste et historien de Menton. Après sa mort le bâtiment a été utilisé pour mettre en scène les célèbres Folies-Bergère puis en 1898, il est finalement devenu l'Hôtel de ville.

Pot au Feu de la Mer

This was my lunch yesterday at the Bar/Restaurant Les Terrasses in Gorbio.  it's a Pot au Feu de la Mer - and it was as good as it looks.  Merci au chef, Fred.  Another day I'll show you what my friends ordered.

Naya at the Vulcano

Last night, after going to the vernissage of Roch Chinchila's beautiful photography, my friend Sylvie and I went to one of our favourite restaurants in Menton, the Vulcano, for a plate of pasta and a glass of wine.  Great pizzas and pastas here, cooked by chef owner, Driss. And very reasonable.

This little love was my neighbour.... well how could I resist! Her name is Naya, she's nearly 5 and was rescued by her owner - and plainly, they adore each other!

La nuit dernière, après le vernissage de la belle expo photo de Roch Chinchila, mon amie Sylvie et moi sommes allés dans l'un de nos restaurants préférés de  Menton, le Vulcano, pour un plat de pâtes et un verre de vin. Ici, les  pizzas et les pâtes sont supers, cuites par le chef/propriétaire, Driss. Et c'est très raisonnable.
Ce  petit amour était ma voisine .... aussi comment pouvais-je résister! Son nom est Naya, elle a environ 5 ans et a été sauvé par son propriétaire - et manifestement, ils s'adorent mutuellement!

Gorbio and The Riviera Reporter

The Riviera Reporter Magazine is the leading English language magazine in the South of France so I'm really proud that a photo I took of the medieval village of Gorbio in the mist has been used for the latest cover.  Thank you to Mike Meade, Publishing Director and Nancy Heslin, Editor for choosing my photo - as well as two others I took of Dolceacqua for a fascinating article about this beautiful village just across the border in Italy.  Coincidentally Gorbio was recently twinned with Dolceacqua.

The Riviera Reporter magazine has been published every two months since 1987 and is the 'bible' of the English-speaking community on the French Riviera. You can see an online edition of the magazine by clicking on this LINK

Riviera Reporter Magazine est le premier magazine de langue anglaise dans le Sud de la France.  Je suis vraiment fière qu'une de mes photos du village médiéval de Gorbio dans la brume a été utilisée pour sa plus récente couverture. Merci à Mike Meade, directeur de la publication et à Nancy Heslin, éditrice pour avoir choisi ma photo - ainsi que deux autres que j'ai prises de Dolceacqua pour un article passionnant sur ce beau village de l'autre côté de la frontière en Italie. Coïncidence Gorbio s'est récemment jumelé avec Dolceacqua.

Ready for the Invasion!

Soon the Fête du Citron (the Lemon Festival) will be upon us.  Menton will be crowded. Visitors will sunbathe on these beaches.

On the left you see one of the many stands already in place for the Corsos (the parades).

Gorbio's 12 kilometre run

Taking photos of AS Gorbio's 12 kilometre run last Sunday was my first attempt at any sports event on my new small camera - a Fuji XT1.  It's such a pleasure not to be lugging the big camera around although I'll not be giving it up anytime soon.  I was standing near to the top of the donkey track that is just above where I live. 

This is Tiphaine Le Guerroué who came from Antibes and who finished 2nd of the girls.

 La course des 12 kilomètres de Gorbio, organisée par l'AS Gorbio dimanche dernier, était ma première tentative de prendre des photos d"un événement sportif avec mon nouveau petit appareil photo - le Fuji XT1. C'est un tel plaisir de ne pas trimbaler un gros appareil photo, même si je ne compte pas l'abandonner dans un avenir proche. J'étais postée près du sommet du chemin de l'âne qui est juste au dessus de l'endroit où je vis. 

Voici Tiphaine Guerroué, d'Antibes qui a terminé 2ème chez les filles.

Paulina and the puppies

Today I give you unadulterated cuteness.

Little Paulina and two of the six-week old puppies born in her house in Gorbio. Thankyou to her parents, Berengere and Mika, who allowed me to take photos of their daughter and the puppies. Of course I was in puppy heaven!

Aujourd'hui je vous donne une overdose de pure douceur enfantine.

La petite Paulina et deux des chiots de six semaines nés dans sa maison à Gorbio. Merci à ses parents, Bérengère et Mika, qui m'ont permis de prendre les photos de leur fille et des chiots. Bien sûr j'étais au paradis des chiots!

They're off!

Le Depart!  The medieval village of Gorbio has many religious and cultural festivals but it also hosts great sporting events, like the 12 kilometre run that took place yesterday under the auspices of AS Gorbio and opened by the Mayor of Roquebrune, Monsieur Patrick Cesari.

Le départ! Le village médiéval de Gorbio organise de nombreuses fêtes religieuses ou culturelles, mais il accueille aussi de grands événements sportifs comme la course de 12 km qui a eu lieu hier, sous les auspices de l'AS Gorbio et dont le départ a été donné par le maire de Roquebrune, Monsieur Patrick Cesari.

Dusk at Roquebrune Cap Martin and a lone fisherman sits waiting for a bite. It constantly amazes me that you can have a scene like this yet be only 6 kilometres from the madness that is Monte Carlo.

Vanessa and Hunique

Vanessa and her father, Paul, run the Bar/Restaurant les Terrasses in the Gorbio.  It's the hub of village life.  Looks like they've got a new server behind the bar. It's Hunique,  Vanessa's beautiful long-haired German Shepherd dog.
