Benvenuto Messia

The scene is Martina Franca in Puglia, Italy in June last year. I was with a great group of photographers participating in Carla Coulson's fabulous Travel Photography Workshop. The gentleman about to run me over is Benvenuto Messia, a real character and a famous Italian photographer and film maker.

La scène se passe à Martina Franca dans les Pouilles, en Italie en Juin de l'année dernière. Je me trouvais avec un grand groupe de photographes qui participaient à un stage de photo vraiment fabuleux  de Carla Coulson. Le monsieur sur le point de m'écraser est Benvenuto Messia, un vrai personnage, célèbre photographe et cinéaste italien.

Photo from our local newspaper, Nice-Matin showing the winners at PhotoMenton, where I was lucky enough to be awarded  third prize (for the third year running -  (118 exhibitors) and also two exhibitions for 2016, in Castillon and also at the Casino Barriere in Menton. Am very proud as you can imagine! Thanks so much to my friends who visited and voted for my photography in the Prix du Public!

Photo de notre journal local, Nice-Matin montrant les gagnants de  PhotoMenton  où j'ai eu la chance de me voir attribuer le troisième prix pour troisieme annee consecuif (118 exposants ) et aussi deux expositions pour 2016 ,l'une à Castillon et l'autre au Casino Barrière de Menton .Comme vous pouvez imaginer, je suis très fière ! Some of you have kindly asked to see my stand at PhotoMenton this year, so here it is! Woof woof!

There are only two more days left to visit the exhibition - 10h to 19h non-stop at the Palais de l'Europe, Menton. 118 photographers, around 1100 photos. I will be there all day on both days - do come and say Hello!

Certains d'entre vous ont gentiment demandé à voir mon stand à PhotoMenton cette année, alors le voilà ! Ouah Ouah! 

Il n'y a plus que deux jours pour visiter l'exposition - 10h à 19h non-stop, samedi/dimanche au Palais de l'Europe, Menton . 118 photographes, environ 1100 photos. Je serai là toute la journée ces deux jours - Venez  me dire Bonjour!

Ball Games

Much of Larvotto Beach in Monaco is closed for winter. But nothing will stop this lovely boxer asking me to throw the ball yet once more! His owners are closing up their shop for the winter.

Une grande partie de la plage du Larvotto à Monaco est fermée pour l'hiver. Mais rien ne peut empêcher de ce beau boxeur de me demander de lancer la balle une fois encore! Ses propriétaires ont fermé leur boutique pour l'hiver.

PhotoMenton 2015

PhotoMenton starts today with .nearly 120 photographers, 1,200 photographs. it's going to be a wonderfully diverse exhibition. Do come along and visit if you can. My stand is number 51 where I'll be exhibiting some of my dog photography - Riviera Dogs - love to see you there.

Bari - Old Lady of 'Orecchiette' Street

This lovely old lady was happy to pose for a photograph in Bari.  She was sitting alongside several other ladies who make and sell 'orecchiette', one of hundreds of pasta shapes you can find in Italy.   It means 'little ears.'

Cette charmante vieille dame était heureuse de poser pour une photo à Bari.  Elle était assise aux côtés de plusieurs autres dames qui fabriquaient et vendaient des « orecchiette », l'une des centaines de formes de pâtes qu'on trouve en Italie. Cela signifie « petites oreilles.

Flags at Half Mast

France is currently in official mourning for three days, and Gorbio, like every other French town or village is displaying the tricolor. In Gorbio, the flags, topped in black and at half mast, are placed against the 300 year old elm tree, the beating heart of the village.

La France est actuellement en deuil national pour trois jours  et Gorbio, comme tous les autres villages et villes français, affiche le drapeau tricolore en berne. Ici,  les drapeaux sont placés contre le vieil orme de 300 ans, le cœur battant du village.

Normal life?

It was no surprise there was a heavy army and police presence around the railway station in Nice yesterday following the horrors of Paris the night before.  And it was heartwarming to see this policeman greeting a friend with a kiss.

Giving a friend a kiss on each cheek is normal in France but I think we all wonder if life will ever be normal again.

Après les horreurs de Paris la nuit avant, la forte présence de l'armée et de la police autour de la gare de Nice hier n'était pas une surprise.  Et c'était réconfortant de voir ce policier saluer un ami avec un baiser.

Embrasser un ami sur chaque joue est normal en France, mais je pense que nous nous demandons si la vie ne sera jamais de nouveau normale.

Michel Isnard - '40 ans de Peinture en Liberté'

Le tout monde was at the vernissage of Michel's Isnard's superb retropective ' 40 ans de Peinture en Liberté.' At one point there were so many people trying to get in that the doors had to be closed for a while. Fortunately the exhibition continues at the Palais de l'Europe in Menton until January 30, 2016, giving us all the chance to go and savour Michel's beyond extraordinary talent.

Tout le monde était au vernissage d'une superbe rétrospective de Michel Isnard, ' 40 ans de peinture en Liberté » À un moment donné, il y avait tant de gens qui essayaient d'entrer que les portes ont dû être fermées pendant un certain temps. Heureusement l'exposition se poursuit au Palais de l'Europe à Menton jusqu'au 30 Janvier 2016 ce que donne à tous la chance d'y aller et de savourer le talent extraordinaire de Michel.
