Monaco Historic Grand Prix - and a Fiat bicycle

 A cute Fiat bike is a great way for this lady to whizz around the paddock area or to get back to her yacht. It is designed to fit into the rear boot of the Fiat 500.

Monaco Historic Grand Prix today in glorious sunshine. I guess if you own a 1959 Lotus 16 (isn't she beautiful?) then you can take advantage of a front tyre to tie your shoelaces.

Ventimiglia - gangster with gloves?

Ventimiglia market yesterday:  this guy looks like a gangster with a gun in his belt, but in fact they are black leather gloves. And he has more leather gloves sticking out of his belt at the front.  I asked who he was. Someone said 'a policeman' and someone else said 'a comedian.'

Monaco Historic Grand Prix - Bugatti 37A

If you love old cars then you should be in Monaco at the moment. The Monaco Historic Grand Prix is held every two years in the Principality and will take place on Sunday. Wandering amongst these beauties yesterday was a treat. This is a 1927 Bugatti 37A.

Si vous aimez les vieilles voitures  alors vous devriez être à Monaco en ce moment . Le Grand Prix Historique de Monaco  se déroule  tous les deux ans dans la Principauté et il aura lieu  dimanche prochain . Déambuler hier, parmi ces beautés , était un régal. Voici une  Bugatti 37A de 1927.

Bordighera - a purr-fect life?

I love the way Italians put chairs outside their houses to sit and pass the time of day with their neighbours.  Add bougainvillea, sunshine and a ginger cat.  How perfect can life be?

Bordighera Shadows

We are in Italy today - in Bordhighera which is just across the border, beyond Ventimiglia. This narrow street, with just a sliver of sunlight amongst the shadows is in Bordighera Alta, the old village.

Aujourd'hui, nous sommes en Italie - à Bordhighera juste de l'autre côté de la frontière, après  Vintimille. Cette rue étroite avec juste un éclat de  lumière du soleil parmi les ombres, se trouve à Bordighera Alta, le vieux village.

Memories of a Princely Family

The entrance to this year's Monaco Dog Show is decorated with wonderful old photos of Monaco's Princely family.  In this photo, the little boy is Prince Rainier and behind him, his sister,  Princess Antoinette.  Later in life, she kept dozens of dogs and was the President of the Monaco's Society for the Protection of Animals.

L'entrée du Monaco Dog Show de cette année est décorée avec de vieilles photos magnifiques de la famille Princière de Monaco. Sur cette photo, le petit garçon est le Prince Rainier et derrière lui, sa sœur, la princesse Antoinette. Plus tard dans sa vie, celle-ci a gardé des dizaines de chiens et a été la Présidente de la Société Protectrice des Animaux de Monaco.

The Wyandotte

Isn't he a beautiful cockerel? He's a Wyandotte and lives with his three females in the gardens of the Clos du Peyronnet in Menton. The Wyandottes were a Red Indian tribe.
